Description
The Original Oil Painting is sold but all the prints of this painting are formatted and made from raw image files, by me. This was a commissioned oil painting, Carnevali di Venezia, (Venice, Italy), is named after the Venetian Carnival held around the same time as the American version of Mardi Gras. The costumes are much what you see here with the beautiful plums and headdresses, painted and masked faces, lots of beads and in this painting, the gold epaulet or shoulder coverings were not painted with gold paint from a tube, but rather they the colors were mixed and applied as you see them. With the exception of white, I mix all of my colors from other colors. It makes my painting experience more fulfilling or challenging.
The actual celebration begins the day before Ash Wednesday, while the actual celebration and "Fat Tuesday" marks the 47 days of Lent up to Easter and is a time of fasting. In Latin, "Fat Tuesday", is translated to mean, "Farewell to Meat", where by the faithful abstain from meat during this time. In this time, I think that this time of celebration is needed by all.
I am a “realist” painter, not a photo-realistic painter. I regard myself as a self-imposed “Representational Realist.” “I only represent, reality, God makes everything, perfectly real.” “Painting for me is much like writing is to an author, once the Paint is put to the Canvas many more than one, can enjoy viewing the Original and finding a Print.”

The other surfaces, like Metal and Acrylic make great choices for areas with high moisture like kitchens and baths too. Hanging any Art in direct sunlight is not recommended.

Mary, I love this. Your use of colors, and the details in the costumes drew me into this painting for a deeper look at the colors of the waters and buildings. .

The subtle shades of pink plus the echo of the curved bridge and the curved shoulder pads. Mary, your compositions are wonderful.
